Canopy by Hilton Hotel - Uptown, Dallas, Texas

The Assignment

Photograph the completed interiors of Canopy by Hilton in Uptown Dallas for the hotel's interior designer. The images needed to document the design work itself, which is a different brief from hotel marketing photography: the client was the designer, and the spaces had to be recorded as designed rather than staged for a booking page.

The Problem

A hotel does not close for a photo shoot. Guests were checking in and out, the lobby and bar were in service, and the public spaces that mattered most to the design story were the ones in near-constant use. Every space on the shot list had a window when it was clear, and those windows did not line up with a conventional working day.

The Approach

We split the coverage across a daytime session and an overnight one, and built the schedule around the hotel's operating rhythm rather than asking the hotel to work around us.

Guest rooms were photographed during the day, working from whatever housekeeping had cleared and released, moving room to room as they became available rather than against a fixed list. Public spaces went overnight, when the lobby, bar, and amenity areas were finally empty enough to light properly and photograph without guests in frame.

Working through the small hours also solved a lighting problem. With no daylight competing through the glass, the interior lighting scheme could be balanced on its own terms, which is what the designer needed to see. The spaces read the way they were specified to read.

The Result

A complete set covering guest rooms, corridors, lobby, bar, and amenity spaces, delivered without a single interruption to hotel operations and with no guests appearing in any frame. The designer received images that document the finished scheme as designed, suitable for their portfolio and for submission.
